Don't know where to start

Subject: Don't know where to start

Okay, this is one of those "I have a funny noise" posts. 1996 lt4, about 54K on the clock, stock aside from elims and replaced resonator. The "noise" is more of a vibration and feels/sounds like some one is under the car pounding on the floor board with a hammer. It was first noticed after I had some tranny work done. (By my brother at a dealership, great tech, lots of experience, very thourough) It started by occurring only when making a right turn.(never on left turns) Now it does it once in a while in a straight line low to moderate acceleration, and a little bit at cruising. My concern is that it seems to be progressive. My first thought was wheel bearing, but today I noticed it at idle just a tad. So now I'm lost.
BTW, I did notice that I had lost the exhaust hanger on the left side, replaced it, but the noise is still there.

All right, there is the scenario. I know that this could be a multitude of things. I am looking for a trouble shooting checklist. I don't want to throw a bunch of "that wasn't it" parts at it. I did lift up the rear and do a visual and everything looked all right, but you know how that goes.
