How to R&R a reverse switch on a 6sp car

Subject: How to R&R a reverse switch on a 6sp car
by bigmoe on 2010/4/27 21:35:54

Wrote down my steps after I did it for others to save for the future:

- use a long skinny screwdriver and a piece of coat hanger wire bent in a short L to remove the plug. The bent coat hanger wire is to push the tab up on the plug (my tab was facing upward) while you pry off the plug with the screwdriver.

- use a 7/8" deep offset box end wrench to remove the switch. It's the only wrench that will work so don't even try anything else.

- use both hands, fingers on either side of the slave cylinder to start the new switch. (Cursing will aid this step). Tighten with your fingers until they start to cramp then use the box end wrench.

- use the same two handed method to reinstall the plug.
