Re: Roller Rockers

Subject: Re: Roller Rockers

Scorpion makes a really good rocker and it's made in the USA. Scorpion is my first choice in a stud mount rocker. I only use something different if the customer insist. People make a big deal about rockers and everybody has their favorites but any quality rocker will live the life of the engine on a mild hyd cam.

Stock ratio is 1.5 but people like to use 1.6 ratio for more lift. You'll have to make sure your valve springs will handle the extra lift.

On a stock engine gains will be minimal... but Rome wasn't built in a day and you have to start somewhere. Roller rockers a cheap upgrade (comparativley) and easy to do yourself.

When you change any part of the valve train you really should check your geometry to be 100% sure your pushrods are the correct length. Most of the time your going to need new ones when you change the rocker arm type/ratio.

I use the I/O (Intake Open) E/C (Exhaust Close) method of valve adjustment. Here are a couple of write ups explaining it.

I like to run anywhere between 1/4 turn and 1/2 turn pre load on normal hyd lifters.

Stock Corvette V/C will normally work if you remove the "drip tabs".
