Yea, that's pretty much it.

Dry fit first.
As Erin said, wait link enough for the adhesive to tack up well.
3M makes a spray adhesive remover that's a bit easier on the paint and works fast.
3M also makes black w/s adhesive too.
Masking tape overnite on any trouble spots.
