But, there's a trick. Take a 3 ft. piece of heavy string or even a spare piece of wire (like 18 ga.) and loop it around the spring clip. Lay the string towards the front of the car. Put the cushion in and put your knee on the front of the cushion with all your weight on it. Then, grab the string and pull it up hard. The spring clip should pop into place. May take a couple trys.
I've never had a problem getting my seat bottom clipped back in. I have an 85 that I autocross. I'm too tall to sit in seat normal with helmet on so I take the seat bottom out when I race so I sit lower. Requires me to put it in and out fairly often
