I hate windex. Smells nasty. I use those foam cleaners for household stuff.

For the car, I used some automotive stuff but it smells worse than windex, probably has ammonia in it too.

The good stuff isn't legal in California anymore so we're probably stuck with the stinky crap. Try distilled water and a touch of vinegar if you don't live in a freezing climate.

Washer fluid is for cleaning water spots IMO, so it doesn't have to be cleaning solution. I'm not one of those assholes that "cleans" my windshield on the freeway at 80 mph, I do it at the gas station.
