Yea, the FSM takes some getting used to.
On the chart, item #2, follow the ignition on/off instructions, disconnect the opti connector ( the one mounted on the right side of the engine). Terminal "A" will be the black/red wire. Set the voltmeter to 20 volts, hook the voltmeter red wire clip to this pin (the harness that goes back towards the firewall) then hook the black voltmeter to ground. Turn on the IGN and see what the voltmeter reads.
