Very Disappointed

169K on the old Monte.... driving home on friday the noises coming out of the front end were unbearable. Time for a new set of pads; I could put it off no longer. I knew when I pulled it all apart it wasn't going to go back together without a fight. So I stoped off at AUTOZONE to pickup some rotors, rear drums, brake fluid, and pads all the way around. I drive like a nut so the guy behind the counter suggested Performance Frictions Z Rated Pad. I was told that they may chew up the rotors, but they are an excellent pad, they stop super fast, all the rest of that sh*t speech they give you when they want you to spend more money. Normally in situations like this, I would buy whatever is cheapest. The car is a bomb with 169K, but the Vette is also overdue for front brakes. Up until now the impala and corvette have always gotten Hawk HPS, and I like them. I know the HP+ is more of a "race" pad so I have been lery to give them a try. So I figured why not, I've heard of PF Pads, I'll give them a try on the old monte, and if it all works out well I will put them on the vette.

Its 28* here in New York tonight, and it has taken me 3 days to get the job done. $100 in calipers later, I was ready to take the car out for a ride.

These are by far the worst pieces of junk I have ever put on my car. They barely keep the car from inching forward at a light, and until they are red hot you can forget you even have brakes. Turns out what they neglected to tell me at AUTOZONE was that these pads are "Not recommended for climates in which the temperature reaches near or below freezing." I'm in F*ing New York. They also stink, the heat was on because it was cold out and when you use them they omit this nasty smell. I couldn't be any less happy with these pads. So if you were considering purchasing these, Please reconsider EBC or HAWK. This thread was not intended to bash the manufacturer but to let you guys know ahead of time before you waste your hard earned $$....

Glad i was able to vent too,

Dan
