Subject: RE:Injectors tick by bogus on 2008/1/30 0:50:00 Electric/Electronic valves on a production car? Not that I am aware of. Ford and Renault have been working on them, but they haven't reached production... hell, they aren't even close as of last read. I would also suspect Ferrari to be working on it, too. F1 is where we would see cam-less engines first... if we ever do. A couple of years ago, before the FIA closed development on F1 engines, Renault was working on a cam-less engine, and the rumours had it spinning upwards of 25k RPM. Considering that the cammed, but pneumatically controlled valves used in F1 currently will allow the smaller 2.4L V8s spin over 20k RPM (ungoverned), I would expect a cam-less engine to spin higher. Either way, it's sick. |
