If it was, I would expect codes as it lost the ability to maintain either timing or fuel. I think the smoking gun was the sparking off the coil wire. It is not uncommon for the wire the chaff on the waterpump and kill things... For some reason, I feel that the mechanic saw an opportunity and ran with it. New wires, $50.00; new MSD opti, $500.00; installation profit, priceless. |
