And it's one of those fiberglass things from Ecklers or something. No biggie. It looks like the bumper cover sacrificed itself for the hood, which is good! Hoods are expensive and CANNOT be fixed. If they break - and when I mean break, they are hit and fracture, like a bone, they cannot be fixed. Microfractures then spread under the paint, compromising the structure of the hood. The hood is a structural member of the car. With it compromised, you can pretty much expect to see the hood start to stress fracture within a couple thousand miles, depending on road conditions. Now, to clarify, if you CUT the hood, for vents or ducts, then you are ok. That's a clean cut and won't send fractures everywhere. Used hoods are about $1000 the last time I bothered to check. If I had to replace my hood, I would get a high-rise. Looks tough and vents more heat out from under the hood. |
