Subject: Re: LT1 oil pan gasket differences FYI by rklessdriver on 2012/2/22 17:50:27 A big problem with these one pc gaskets is that they are so grippy (can't think of any better way to describe it). You can get leaks around the front and rear because the gasket grabs ahold of the timing cover and the rear main seal housing/adapter and it won't slide down fully against the gaps where they meet the block. A dab of silicone in the "4 corners" will let the gasket slide down/seat fully and help fill in those gaps. You don't need much - think pencil eraser sized dab. I've used the Fel Pro, Victor and Corteco/Detroit Gasket brand and never had a problem. Will |
