First post, havin trouble, fuel pump?

Subject: First post, havin trouble, fuel pump?

Car is '96 LT4. Hotcammed 143K miles, no cats.

Trouble: Took it out for a drive this evening. It was running well, no issues. After about an hour or a little more, as I was headed home, it started bucking briefly a couple of times, then cleared up. As I got to the light and had to stop, it got worse. Got around the corner, it pretty much acted like it was out of gas. Got it pulled to a side street. All connections seemed good, coil, plugs, etc. Attempted to start, good crank, a couple of fires then nothin'. Just like it was out of gas. Gauge read about a quarter plus, and it should have gas according to last fill. But, I hoofed it home, got my gas can and added more fuel to see. No go.

Replaced coil and icm last fall. Opti got a new cap and rotor in '08 (GM parts) New fuel filter about 3000 miles ago.

Plan is to try cold start in am (in case icm was overheated).

Rent fuel pressure gauge and check fp.

It was running well until that very moment, no misfires, so I really don't think it's the opti. (Oh, and no codes obdII)

Any thoughts are welcomed

Oh, I guess my question is, those that have had the FP fail while driving, does this sound familiar?
