Re: Exhaust gaskets or not?

Subject: Re: Exhaust gaskets or not?

On my 89 there are no gaskets, and I'm almost certain there is none on the later models. What happens at these joints is sometimes there will be a carbon build-up between the "ball" and the concave flange. These need to be very clean, I use sandpaper to get the metal nice and clean. Also check for a slightly bent edge on the "male" end. This will result in a exhaust leak.

Joel

PS: Forgot to mention= tighten the bolts evenly. Too much torque on one side will cock the flange and it will not seal properly
