Re: Door Pins

Subject: Re: Door Pins

I've changed lots of GM pins, springs and bushings in different cars but not a Corvette.
The spring won't kill ya, but it can take out a eye or really hurt a finger!
There is a spring tool sold at most of the box auto part stores. I would buy it, makes the job a lot easier. It is possible to remove the spring with a long screw driver, but a real PITA to install with just hand tools.

A few tips:
Have the car on level ground, or with the nose slightly "down hill", this helps keep the door open.

Place a floor jack with block of wood under rear of door to hold the door up before removing anything. Coupe doors are heavy.

Don't be in a hurry. The bushings can be awkward trying to install.
