Subject: Re: 5W30 for manual tranny fluid? by CentralCoaster on 2008/6/9 5:37:17 That GM fluid spec'd in the manual got superceded by Synchromesh. The synchromesh is made by Pennzoil, available at the auto parts store, or at a GM dealer with a more expensive bottle. GM also has a friction modified and synthetic version available. Unlike a motor, the manual transmission requires some friction in the fluid for the synchros to work properly. ZFdoc recommends Castrol TWS 10w60, and not any of the GM stuff. |
