Module #9 is the EBCM - Electronic Brake Control Module (ABS/ASR). Module A? Never heard of that. By selecting to display the error codes on the speedometer, you are getting them from the CCM; it is reading the codes and handing them back. If you get the codes from the flashing SES, then that's direct from the PCM. In my 1992 FSM, the CCM code procedures are found in section 8D, book 1, titled Central Control Module.
