Was it running fine before you did any work?

Check for anything loose under the car that you may have removed during the maintenance. Not to sound insulting, but is the fuel filter installed with the correct flow direction (should be arrows on the casing). If the problems started immediately after your work, that's the first thing I'd double check.

Like prozac said, rattle could be the internals of the cat breaking apart and clogging things up. You can try disconnecting the exhaust before the cat to relieve pressure and see if that makes a difference. The lack of air tube shouldn't have an effect (my air system is removed). The air tube was to put fresh air into the cat to reduce the emissions numbers.
