Yup, very rare. Very elusive. About as common as a two horned unicorn.

In other words, non-existant. The pulsing often confused with warpage is simply uneven buildup of pad material on the surface. Turning them removes this and exposes fresh metal. So does dragging the brakes with cold (abrasive) pads.

However, i'm also of the opinion that for $20 I'd rather get new ones.
