Moisture in the fluid allowed the aluminum to corrode the steel, basically turning it into the anode of a battery. The inner wall was badly pitted and corroded, as soon as the oring got to that point it would no longer hold pressure. It also allowed it to suck air into the system making it impossible to bleed. My cast PBR (reboxed China part) had a steel piston. |
