The plate has two holes drilled in it at the same spacing as the slave cylinder flange and a partially drilled hole in between to locate the pushrod. This cost me about $1.00 and 10 minutes of time. Let the slave hang under the car and attach the plate to the slave with a couple of nuts and bolts. I then let the cylinder gravity bleed for a bit. Tighten the bolts to fully compress the pushrod -- this reduces the fluid volume in the slave cylinder to almost nothing. Next, have a helper depress the clutch and crack the bleed fitting. Repeat a couple of times until all the air is out, then slowly back off the bolts while making sure you keep fluid in the reservoir. The slave cylinder will fill with fluid and be totally free of air. I was replacing slaves about every 2 years until I made this fixture. I had about 5 years on the current slave when I parked the car 4 years ago. It has not leaked a drop. |
