Timing question

Subject: Timing question
by klkordzi on 2010/5/31 1:33:57

I have an 85 and It's been a while since I had to set the timing on an engine and I'm a little unclear. On the timing cover is the tab with a 0 marking and degree marking before and after the 0 mark. I also installed an aftermarket harmonic balance with the 0 mark and degrees marked on it also. The procedure is to disconnect a wire that prevents the computer from controlling the timing and then set the timing at 6 degrees BTDC. Do I match the 0 mark on the balancer up to 6 degrees BTDC or match 6 degrees on the timing tab or match 6 degrees on the balance up to the 0 mark on the timing tab
