You will find that the 4 holes drilled into the pumpkin (at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions) are larger diameter than the 84. The matching holes on the strut rod brackets are also small, matching the 84 case holes. Although the brackets are probably enough to locate the strut rod brackets securely, I do not trust it.
I always open up the bracket holes to match the later pumpkin holes, and use the later year, larger diameter bolts.
