if i can ask what was the process you used .did you color sand by hand and what compounds did you use to bring the shine back after color sanding .i just got a hutchins waterbug air color sander and am going to tackle my blk zr1 with it but am a little unsure of the compounds used/needed to bring it back .dont mean to hijack ,just wanted to hear what another vet owner used

After color sanding by hand I tested an area with 3M Perfect-It 3000 Rubbing Compound and Meguiars Heavy Cut Cleaner. I prefer the 3M products but they are more expensive and I could not tell the difference on this white car. So, I used the Meguiars Heavy Cut, followed by their Fine Cut with wool pads on a circular buffer. Then I used Zaino Fusion (swirl remover) with a foam pad on a Porter Cable 7424 XP. After this came the multiple layers of Zaino Z2 with ZFX and applying Z6 between the coats of Z2.

However, If my car was black, (have had many, BMW, Audi, Cobra, Trans Am to name a few), I'm sure the 3M products (and many others) would prove superior. Black is the least forgiving and demands the best products and techniques. There are a lot of excellent products out there now. Most are easiest to find on the internet.... check out http://www.autogeek.net (as an example)
