Be real careful when loosening the knock sensors for the first time, they're easy to break. I'd suggest a socket and breaker bar to loosen them the first 1/4 turn, make sure you hold the socket up tight against the sensor so that it doesn't cock at an angle when you pull the breaker bar/ratchet.

Don't remove the factory sealant in the threads. There's plenty there for reuse and more sealant may reduce the sensor's effectiveness. Mine have been off/on 3 times with no additional sealant.

And these are pipe threads - torque is 14 ft.lbs.
