Tuning Out the Oil Level Sensor? WWYD? |
Subject: Tuning Out the Oil Level Sensor? WWYD? by biggrizzly on 2011/5/4 13:27:19 When installing and using the Champs Road Racing Pan, the oil level sensor is too close to the headers to be able to insert it and have enough room for the sensor and connector to clear the header. This is a result of the oil pan kick-outs at the bottom which provide more oil capacity. I know that "BlackHarleyMan" on CF modified a sensor by cutting off a half inch or so and potting some wires into it. However, last Sunday, Will and I were discussing the possibility of tuning the whole oil level parameter out of the tune, thus avoiding any cutting or modifying of the oil level sender. I have considered tuning out the oil level sender if Mick is able to do that. My thinking is that I have never, ever had an oil light come on before and always know my oil level before going out. However, it does provide insurance in the event some event occurs to cause a sudden dump of oil. It will alert you to that event. What do you Gurus think about this one? |
