Subject: Re: I just bought a KENT MOORE J-35890 ABS test box by bogus on 2011/7/1 18:22:10 I am expecting a good Tech II, with all cables, will cost about $2500. If the 25 or so CORE members that all participate regularly were to pitch in $100, we could buy it. Since everyone thinks I am moderately trustworthy, I could be the keeper of it. Shipping... it's not that big, if we used USPS Flat Rate box, I think the tech II and all cables could be sent for as little as $12.00. International higher. If one of the 25 wants to use it, simple shipping charge. If one OUTSIDE wants to use it, then there is an option... $100 to be a part owner, OR, $500 refundable deposit, plus a CC #. Reason for the CC#? If it gets lost/stolen/broken/whatever, we have a CC to get our total back on. Not perfect, but not bad. And with the money spread out, our individual risk is lower. Part owners would need to share the CC, too... for the same reason, just no deposit. The new owners $100 will go towards maintaining and upgrading the Tech II. New cables or adapters as needed. As caretaker, I would hold that money. A spreadsheet would be attached to a thread with info on all owners - not detailed, I would keep all confidential info. All owners would have contact info for all owners, CC info would be mine and mine alone. That same thread would hold the queue of who has it now. The tool is powerful... as such, I would like to see usage limited to 1 week at a time - PLAN AHEAD! 100% transparency. Totally public at all times. The only confidential parts will be our personal names, address and financials. To reiterate, I would keep CC#s, no one else. If we ever wish to get out, we sell the package and split the $$ equally. BUT! There is a but. Whoever participates must have a minimum post count. I am thinking 500. When someone is done with it, they put it back into the old box, or, get a new one from the USPS, and ship it to the next person or back to me. I don't want it sitting on a third parties garage for ever. The next question... do we want to check into the latest Tech IV instead? |
