That tells me your Throttle Position Sensor is more than likely failing.

You need a DVM - Digital Volt Meter - and back probe the TPS. Turn on the key - don't start - and watch the TPS voltage.

As your manually turn the throttle, the volts should climb from about .54 to 5v. If in that arc, it decides to drop out for a moment, well, you have found the dead spot.

The TPS is on the right side of the throttle body, and has a 3 wire connector, IIRC. There is also the IAC - Idle Air Control - but that is below the throttle body; and has a square 4 wire connector.
