I have a newer Optima, and to be honest, I don't remember seeing my voltage scatter during a poor run time.
The alternator is from a 96, and its 144 amp, hotter than the 124 I used to have. I know the 124 is dead. Also, the power and ground wires off the battery are new; as in 2.5 years old, fresh from OEM GM. They are the updated units with better sealing and such.
I am going to check grounds and valve train.
With Herb's wacky IP display, that's why I suggested electrical.
