88 c4 brake booster install

Ok the plastic unit was cracked and no good. Upgraded to the metal unit from zip corvette. $159 plush shipping was the price.

took me 1 hour to finish.

tips: remove driver seat and support bar infront of brake mc

tools needed:
1, 2 or 3 extensions
ratchet, swivel(optional), 1/2 inch deep socket, 13 mm deep socket
zr1 metal brake booster(came with new 13mm nuts for front and back of booster
optional 8mm high temp silicone hose for booster check valve to upper plenum

disconnect battery of course
take out drivers seat of course

take 6 bolts off of support bar in front of brake master cylinder.


3 screws on cruise unit come out so you can access 2 of the 3 bolts on upper side of support bar.

take off 2 bolts on brake mc and push forward

take panel near pedals off(unscrewed them by hand)
take off 2 1/2 inch nuts under dash. Accelerator pedal is easy. Steering column side requires 2 extensions and 1/2 deep socket. Disconnect pin holding pedal to rod(mine was already gone).

pull booster out install new one.

reinstall in reverse order.
Luckily my large hands or 2 fingers were long enough to get the column side nut started.

Mods please cleanup any way you wish. I am not very good at write-ups but I wanted to try and give back alittle. Thanks.
