There is no performance advantage. If you are a cruiser or waxer that pays to have his plugs changed, there could be an advantage to the higher priced platinums, with labor costs what they are. However, for most people I would expect to find in the tech area of a forum, tinkerers who wouldn't, couldn't, leave spark plugs alone for longer than the life of a standard plug, the standard plug will save significant money with no sacrifices. Your trusted sales person should have asked some more questions and continued his "down sell" even farther. Quote: I use standard Autolites in the Vette. That's because I like to keep them fresh anyway, so there's no use in buying plats for it since long life is their main benefit. RACE ON!!! |
