That's why you can buy laminating resin and finishing resin depending on what you are building. And you do need to get beneath the release agent on regular glass.You remove the release agent by grinding it away. If you put regulsr polyester resin soaked glass cloth on top of a C2-3 fender, it will eventually fall off, SMC does need different resin. The best way to attach part of a fender would be to use a bonding strip at the cut applied with Panel Bonding Adhesive and have the edged V ground back 1 inch min. then fill in with glass and SMC resin. There are also epoxy repair kits that can be used with fiberglass mat. If you're really good, you won't use any body puddy just glazing puddy to cover small scratches. BTW don't use any degreaser or prep wipe on the repair area, compressed air only. |
