I'm really liking this thread - thanks for all the advice.

For reference, this would not be a Route 66 trip - it would end in San Francisco and follow most (if not all) of the Lincoln Highway westbound. So - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, California.

About 3,400 miles out, 2,900 back - a total of 6,300 miles. The furthest we've ever traveled in the 1985 is 2,700 miles back in 2008.
