Tuning and O2's

Subject: Tuning and O2's
by tjpreul on 2013/8/27 2:19:50

My car is a '92 which has batch fire. My question is with one O2 sensor disconnected will the car still go into a closed loop?

The setup: I have a piggyback controller on my car. To tune it you disconnect the O2's and adjust the fuel map to the desired fuel ratio. When done plug the O2's back in to allow the factory ecm to adjust the fuel ratio. The piggyback modifies the injector signal, so you can add more or less fuel from the factory ecm pulses.

The situation: I have the fuel ratio's close. 14.5 at idle 13's under acceleration and 12.2 at WOT. With this I plugged the O2's back in and it is pulling to the rich side. At an idle it is reading 11, then I get a code 64 which is lean on the right side. The same side my wideband is hooked into.

Anyway tonight I disconnected the right O2, and now I have 14.0 for my idle. Is there a simple way to find out if my right O2 is faulty and reading lean, which would make the ECM want to add fuel. When I am driving the SES light goes away, but the AFR is reading 10.
