Two Newbie Questions About Coolant

Subject: Two Newbie Questions About Coolant
by j3studio on 2013/9/26 0:50:16

(I'm closing in on pulling the throttle body from my 1985)

Two coolant questions:

1) I've been told that I'm going to have to drain at least some of the coolant from the radiator before I disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body. Should I drain it as if I were draining the entire radiator? How much should I drain? How much total coolant is in the radiator?

2) When I refill the radiator, what does the Guru suggest putting in it? I think I should be using distilled water for one portion - what kind of coolant should I be using for the other part?
