Thanks for all the replies and help guys.

Matt, yes, it was removed from the car while I was working with it.

Gris, I thought about using kroil, but it's been my experience that it'll dry and turn to a shellack after time.

Joel has the same idea I ended up using. (Great minds think alike) I measured the cable thikcness @ .054". Then I went to see Manny, Moe, and Jack and looked thru their "HELP" section for choke cables. I got one that measured .047" and, in a leap of faith, cut the end off the OEM part. When I pulled it out, it was in fact kinked. I slid the new one in and then duplicated the ends of the OEM part on the new one at the appropriate length.
I works! And works well. The unit is re-attatched and is adjusted, and seems to work quite smoothly.
