My '96 LT1 CE had no crossover pipe that I saw.

Exhaust Manifolds -> Cats -> Resonator -> Mufflers.

Unless you mean the central resonator (seen on the right in the pic, below), there was no other connection between the two sides and, I can't find an internal schematic of the resonator.
