Yeah the McLeod's use a "weight kit" to bolt onto the flywheel which keeps her quiet.

If there was enough sticking up, he probably just used an easy out. Unless the bolt was a thru hole, an EDM would probably cuase more harm than good. He probably used some heat, PB Blast and an easy out or reverse fluted drill bit to thread it out. He may also have just drilled it out to the shank size and ran a tap back thru it. Either way, the jobs done and you can get back moving again!
