DTC41 Assistance

Subject: DTC41 Assistance
by hcbph on 2015/3/21 17:51:45

I got my 86 L98 convertible out of winter storage recently, driven it a few short trips in it and it's run fine except one day I got a SES but I had a stop to make and the SES was out when I restarted and didn't reoccur on multiple short trips. Didn't check it at the time of the SES as my scanner was buried away and the light hadn't come back.

Today I went to take it out, almost immediately it was surging and not idling well and the SES light came on again, so pulled back into the garage and dug out the scanner and found a DTC41 code (it's an ODBC1 car).
First item on the list is cam sensor failure, walking the diag tree in the FSM on intermittents list possible poor or loose connections.

Problem is I can't find that sensor in the manual nor can I find anything online referring to it other than apparently it exists. I want to check it out but I need to know what it looks like and where it is.
Can anyone help me out?

Also if you had a DTC41 on a L98 and it was something else, can you let me know what that was and what fixed it?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Paul
