I think 12.6 V is normal dry battery voltage on the rack. So in other words not running that's normal voltage. While running it will peak up a bit as its being maintained by the alternator. Where is the voltage on the band on the IP while running Chuck ? If it's middle band to just under 3/4 band thats normal. It will read under a half band with the key in the run position until you start. If that is what you see that is what I see on my 91 which is my DD

Also the C4 is a battery Whore. Strange electrical things will occur if it's under volted. I've seen it before on my L98 90 and my 91 ZR-1. Also the car has voltage demands from the radio clock and the interior lights if the doors and/or hatch is open before it times out as off. Also voltage draw can occur if the visor lights are accidentally left on.
