Subject: Re: replacing engine ?? by COPO on 2008/3/27 14:33:25 if your looking for a later model motor...i've been thinking bout the LQ9 truck motor later on down the road. shortblock is bout the same but iron. a nice set of heads, cam and intake and you can be sum where round 450hp or so depending on cam heads etc. i have not researched it enuff to kno all the facts but there is a lot to consider..like all the brackets and placement of acceseries on the front of the motor. a friend of mine bought a truck motor sold the things he didnt need...bought heads from GM complete...cam from comp cams and a used intake off ebay. says he has 3500 in motor with his labor and making 425-450 hp and the motor only had 12k miles. its got me to thinking a lot about it. you also have to consider harness/headers/mounts and several other lil odds that will add up. trans upgrade to. its just a thought. |
