RE:Left side mirror repair

Subject: RE:Left side mirror repair
by NamGulfVette on 2005/11/29 2:50:40

Gordon Killebrew did this on my 87 to switch the glass from my garage sproinged mirror to my replacement mirror housing: He placed his thumb and fingers around the edges of the glass and just pulled it toward him. It took some effort but just popped right off!. After he had installed the new housing in my door and hooked up the wires he pushed the mirror back onto its trunion until it shattered - yes he broke it!! I was at Bloomington at the time so found a replacement and he snapped that one in with no problem (whew). So I would advise gentle pressure when doing this. I'll bet you will find a broken plastic part rattling around inside. I like to use Jason at www.vette2vette.com for replacement parts if you need them.
