Subject: Transmission questions, PETE!!!! YOU AROUND? by jsup on 2008/10/22 1:18:17 So now that I'll be a bit more comfortable that the motor is coming together, I am starting to get concerned about the transmission. It's not a question of IF, it's a question of when. Even with this partial tune, the car buzzes up like a two stroke engine with the pedal 1/2 way down. Pops straight to 6500 RPMs. Anyway, I want to start understanding what to do for a trans when it's time, so when it goes, I can jump right on it and have a plan of action already written. Pete, would you be willing, do you have the time, to do one for me? I guess my question is, what do I need to look for in a transmission that can handle the HP/TQ my motor puts out. Particular parts or components? I know 600 may be a bit of an exaggeration, however, for arguments sake, lets shoot for a trans that can handle REAL HP, in the 750 ish range. I prefer to have some over head. In case I decide to go spray in the future, or switch some parts to pick up the power I'm leaving on the table.....  |
