Ring Selection

Subject: Ring Selection
by djxib on 2008/11/24 15:22:51

Hi all,

1992 LT1, LT4 heads, stroked to 383 (apparently), blown to 12psi.

I am changing out the rings on the motor this winter. The original (full) engine build specs are a bit of a mystery, however I know the car has precisely a 4.0" bore and Probe LW40 forged pistons. The engine has low tension oil rings, so I need to get some standard ones on there to reduce my oil consumption.

Question is, what ring set to choose? The car is used once or twice a week to get to work, with occasional mountain runs and trips to the dragstrip 2 or 3 times a year.

My aim is reasonable compression, safe to 6400RPM, and great oil control!

Thanks!
