Much of the complexity of this repair are the changes that occured to the Opti harness over the years.

1. The Opti harness to Engine harness has a 3x2 plug. The earlier connector included some kind of grounding shield that was not used in later years - well, after 1992 that is. This connector is a bastard child... it was never used again by any other LT1 car. To convert to the new harness, I needed to change over to the new style oval 4 pin connector. When I took it apart, the old connector literally disentagrated in my hands.

2. The later style opti has a deeper socket on it, this means that the new style harness has a longer connector! I had to swap from the new back to the old so it would interface with my old style Opti. The pins are double retained. They actually put the pins on the wire, then feed them in from the end versus from the backside. I had to remove those pins and remove a couple of tangs so as to put them back in. The rubber gasket seems more than strong enough to retain the pins.

3. The new LTCC harness is great. It uses OEM coil harness and it is much longer. I can now install the LTCC module in the right headlight bucket, which will keep the new harness well clear of the serp belt.

All of this should be assembled and the car running tomorrow.

I have a set of aluminum coil brackets on order. As soon as they arrive, I will post pics.
