Depends. If somebody is only planning on doing HPDE's there is no need to get all sorts of trick stuff. Just make sure the car is in good operating order, and have decent pads and you will be fine. Too many people get it in their head that they need this, they need that to go do a HPDE. I think most lose the site it's to go out and have fun, pretend you are a race car driver and actually learn how to drive a car at 8/10.

I can't tell you how many people I pass that have all of this trick stuff and then they are surprised when somebody else passes them or is on their ass in a corner with a stock car.


Plus, they spend big bucks on the trick chit and almost $0 on safety equipment.
