It sounds to me like you are under the impression that you have to pull the oil pan to swap out the oil pump drive. While you do have to pull the pan and pump to swap out the rod, the drive just unbolts from the lifter valley and pulls out. There is no need to remove the pan if all you are planning to do swap is the drive.

You can swap just the gear on the drive, you don't need to replace the whole drive. Any conventional distributor gear for a roller cam will work, you should be able to get a stock replacement distributor gear at any auto parts store.

The drive is made of a composite material, it's not steel, so it can break/crack when reinstalling the bolt if you over tighten it.
