[ PR&C ] by CentralCoaster on 2009/8/9 17:49:53 If they were the least bit concerned about the environment, they wouldn't be paying to crush working cars just to crank up the assembly line to produce more cars. 20% of a new Toyota's lifetime energy use is during manufacture. At the very least, these cars being crushed (some nice ones) could instead be sold at a discount to owners of older vehicles that are less efficent and clean. It's a ploy to boost auto sales, nothing more. Unfortunately, they're just stealing future sales, so when they stop this program, and demand for new cars is dead, the auto industry will be hurting even more than beforehand. |
