It stays open like that unless I hit a big bump, but I usually just close it but not latch it. This leaves a gap around the lid for air. My other idea was to drill holes into the plastic door and maybe even perforate the carpet above. These displace quite a bit of air so without somewhere for that to go it will stress the sub.

The fiberglass bin is thin, so I built a 3/4" mdf enclosure that fits inside it. It's a freaking bizarre shape to get the most of the volume in there, but it's still only about 1/2 cu ft.
