Re: Aftermarket amplifier wiring

Subject: Re: Aftermarket amplifier wiring

I worry about amps in the storage bin... no air flow at all.

When I installed my amp, I used 4 gauge, so yes, a hole drilled was the solution. However, 1992/93 Vette's don't have the extra fuse panel, so it wasn't so much of an issue. I drilled from the outside in, ran the wire (it fit nicely under the conduit on the drivers side rocker panel) and hooked up accordingly.

As for ground, I ran it straight back to the battery. So there are two 4 gauge wires running under the left rocker, through the hole, and to the battery.

To protect the wire, I wrapped them with cold fusion tape, and then filled in the hole with RTV. No leaks, no water, no smells and no shorts!
